Everyone with a vagina should see a pelvic health PT at some point in their life, and if you have access to one, use it (the PT)! Ideally you will work with them in person and have them teach you to use a wand. If you're dealing with pelvic floor issues, your hip health plays a major role in pelvic floor health. Hop into our free hip series for our top exercises, stretches and massages! https://spreadwhealth.com/free....-hip-landing-page F those who cannot access a pelvic PT, there’s a lot you can do yourself at home and tools like this shouldn’t be reserved only for those with privilege. Before anyone starts saying people shouldn’t do this on their own lets pause for a moment and consider all the things being placed in vaginas all over the world. There’s no reason any vagina owner cannot do this themselves using a little common sense. Choose a wand. Many are available online where you don’t have to feel uncomfortable and are delivered in discreet packaging. Wash the wand and your hands thoroughly. Select a lubrication that is safe to use with the wand. Coconut oil is typically a very safe bet. Gently insert the wand. You can rotate it and apply pressure to different areas, avoiding the 12 and 6 as shown in the video which would be pressing into your bladder and rectum. We aren’t massaging any muscles in those spots so just avoid them. Be gentle. These muscles are very thin and do not require much pressure. Apply gentle pressure and breathe deeply while relaxing. You can wiggle the wand a bit, or rub it along the muscle. Whatever feels good. Different positions enable you to hit different angles. You can even get into a squat and massage in that position. You can keep the wand in the shower for easy access if you’d like. Try not to be embarrassed about this. The pelvic floor muscles are muscles just like all our others. Nobody is shy about foam rolling or massaging their hamstrings, no need to be with this either. Who might benefit? Individuals with pelvic pain, tight pelvic floor muscles, prolapse, hip pain, etc. I find that many hypermobile women have some pelvic floor tightness and are more prone to prolapses. Using a wand made very clear and noticeable differences to my prolapse symptoms and pain and I swear by it. What questions do you have? What’s your experience been with wands?
