Doctors are reportedly being offered very high pay to treat migrants arriving in Britain by small boat, with one advert promising £640 a day for work at Dover and Manston. That is far above normal GP pay and is likely to spark fresh anger over how much the migrant crisis is costing taxpayers. The Home Office says the roles are needed to take pressure off local NHS services and communities, while private contractors provide healthcare for new arrivals. The report also says the long-term contract behind the scheme suggests ministers expect the small boats crisis to continue for years.
